GLOVE2FACE: Boxing's new home

I want to start by saying that I think Carl Froch is definitely a good fighter, but he’s not a great one. He has defeated some tough opposition, but he struggles when facing good boxing skills.

He fought Jermain Taylor and was losing on two out of the three score cards by the twelfth round, which means if Taylor could have managed to not tire out, like he had started doing at this point in his career, he would have easily won. All he had to do is stay on his feet for a little over 20 seconds, or got up after he went down, but I've digressed. I’m not taking anything away from Carl's win, I am pointing out the trouble he had with Taylor’s boxing skills.

Carl then fought Andre Dirrell, whom he beat by split decision, but Dirrell’s boxing skills is what made it a close fight. I, as well as a lot of others, had Dirrell winning the fight, but this was in Froch’s backyard, so he gets an edge.

Mikkel Kessler beat Froch by Unanimous decision by displaying good boxing skills and punched from different angles. Froch showed signs of competitiveness in spots, but Kessler’s boxing stole the show.

Carl Froch completely outclassed Arthur Abraham, but it appears he was out of his league. This is definitely a good win for Froch, but Arthur is not a boxer!

His last fight was against Glen Johnson, the 42 year old Road Warrior. Johnson is definitely a tough fighter, but his style played into Froch’s offense.

Now….looking at his last five fights, I see that good boxing skills is a problem for Froch, and Ward’s boxing skills is better than all of theirs. He shows ring generalship in every outing, he throws punches from many angles, and he’s versatile. Ward is a great boxer, but he’s capable of bullying if needed.

Styles make fights, and this fight will be completely dominated by arguably the best Super Middleweight fighting!?! Carl will come to fight because he is that type of fighter, but he doesn’t possess the skills to dethrone Andre Ward right now, he’s simply too good and too hungry. After this fight, be looking for a fight between Ward and Lucian Bute! …….Ward will win that one too!!!
